Building industry pay deal agreed
04 Apr 2014
A two-year pay deal involving variable wage increases has been agreed by the Building and Allied Trades Joint Industrial Council (BATJIC).
The deal, following talks between the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) and Unite, involves variable increases for the standard wage rates averaging 2.5%.
These take effect from June 30 and more rises averaging 3% take effect from June 29 next year.
The yearly annual holiday entitlement will rise by a day from the same date from 21 to 22 days, coming to 30 days including public holidays.
There will be a 3% rise in hourly wages from June 30 for young adult operatives and all apprentices and trainees, with another 3% increase in June next year.
In addition, a 3% rise in hourly skills rates will be implemented for each year of the deal.
The deal reflects cautious optimism and the desire for long term stability in the industry, said FMB chief executive Brian Berry.
